That Giant Sucking Sound: Majority of Americans Oppose Free Trade, WSJ/NBC Poll Says

Americans would likely have no problem with free trade if they could find high paying jobs to raise families. Free trade is not the cause but rather symptom of a greater problem. The US has been lulled into economic complacency through ever increasing consumption-driven growth. Future growth, the stuff that raises standard of livings for all, depends on reducing consumption and increasing investment and education in emerging technologies and industries.

Free trade has been a divisive topic for quite some time but with nearly 25 million Americans out of work, underemployed or no longer actively looking, passions are running even higher (and hotter) than normal.
