Number of Families in Shelters Rises

It is harsh and tragic reality for a growing number of families living with the consequences of secular trends that can only be reversed through time, investment, and a general reduction of standard of livings in the Western economies.

Nevertheless, from 2007 through 2009, the number of families in homeless shelters — households with at least one adult and one minor child — leapt to 170,000 from 131,000, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
