Many Americans will run short in retirement: study

To quote an old gen Xer saying, "no shit Sherlock." Many classes of Americans, living beyond their means, have become addicted to debt based on a pipe dream of the plateau of prosperity from a paper shuffling society. The propensity to save and invest has been replaced by the propensity consume and make the minimum payments. No amount of socialism will buffer the necessary market driven changes yet to come.

No matter their income level, a significant number of U.S. workers are likely to struggle to meet basic expenses during retirement, a new study of baby boomers and "generation Xers" released on Tuesday shows.
