Euro to Go Under $1.20 'Almost Certainly': Gartman

Austerity will not be embraced "affectionately" by Portuguese, Greeks, Italians so the euro zone's problems will increase, Gartman said.

The point of this posting is not to confirm Gartman's or any other analyst's call on the Euro but rather the observation that austerity will not be embraced with Euro zone. Once a socialistic program is woven the standard of living within a society, it is not easily withdrawn. If the Euro is destined for further devaluation based on this logic, it is only a matter of time before traders reach the same conclusion with currencies of other over-extended nations facing similar problems.

My Euro commentary on May 18th suggested that a relief rally, if possibly, is not a turn. The breach of the monthly low on increasing volume and new lows in the REV(E) reflects what could be irrevocable loss of public confidence in the Euro.

Very little has changed to the technical picture since then.

Turkish PM calls Israeli ship raid a 'massacre'

The blame game starts. Turkey, a predominantly Muslim, is a key Western ally that promotes stability within that region. Any actions taken against Iran need the support of Turkey. Thus, when words such as the two countries have reached a turning point in their long-standing alliance should not be easily dismissed.

The Turkish prime minister furiously blamed Israel on Tuesday for a "bloody massacre" that killed nine people on a Gaza-bound Turkish aid ship, and proclaimed that the two countries had reached a turning point in their long-standing alliance.

Please know that I have no financial connection directly or
tangentially with this business endeavor. I did contribute, with no repayment required, the first technological equipment as I believe this is a needful service for the community wanting it to be field tested. Since the profit on counterfeited coins is minimal, it seems to me that all bars, teals and the various forms of processed gold prior to 0.9995 fineness are those most prone to adulteration. Jim

The second tap was backed by more energy than the first. A close above 4.73 will be difficult to contain. A test of 1350 during the A-wave will bring a retest of March 2009 swing high.

US Stocks find resistance

The test of the 5/20 gap came on decreasing volume. This suggests that the upside force was insufficient to break the zone. If resistance is to be cleared, it will do so violently on a sign of strength (visualization)* or through attrition over time (visualization)**.

Sell in May and Go Away in 2010? Poll

For those that voted Don’t Know Ask Eric, here’s my response despite minority voting.

While stocks have hit an air pocket in the trend and experts once again tout their 1,000 Dow and 1,000 Gold arguments, they ignore the obvious safe haven capital flow trends. The equity market’s direction will be determined by capital flows. The flight for safety into movable assets (stocks, gold, and other tangibles) continues as devaluation and lack confidence in fiat intensifies within the context of the evolving International Sovereign debt crisis.

Should one sell into May and Go Away in 2010?

Kennedy Gammage once wrote that “Those of us who make a living looking into a crystal ball will end up learning how to eat lots of broken glass.”

There’s a major cycle date high for stocks in August 2010. When time is up, price will reverse. I would not be surprised to see stocks higher in August than April or May. This, however, does not suggest that one should not sell in May and go away. Go away into U.S. Treasury bill? No. Go away into Gold? Yes.

It appears that the fourth consolidation pattern since 1999 has broken to the downside. It's only a matter of time before the 2009 lows are broken.
